Mens 2V8 are 2009 Scholastic National Champions! (updated)
May 23rd, 2009 (Princeton, NJ): The Winter Park Men's 2V8 took Gold at SRA Nationals in Princeton, New Jersey. Completing a season in which they were Florida State Champions, Stotesbury Champions and now National Champions.
Winter Park Hosts National Learn to Row Day and Learn to Row Summer Program
Winter Park Crew the 2009 National Scholastic Champions in the Mens JV8 will be hosting a Learn to Row event on June 6th at the WP Crew Boathouse.
The Hammer brings the Hammer Home!
May 14th-16th, 2009 (Philadelphia): If you are going to only win one trophy at Stotesbury then at least do it in style. The Winter park Mens 2nd 8 captured the Hammer Trophy as it continued undefeated this season with an open-water victory at Stotesbury.
Rent-A-Rower
Winter Crew Boosters manages a program called "Rent-A'Rower". Where our rowers sign up to be available odd jobs at a rate between $8-$12.50 and hour. The money raised by the rower goes toward their monthky dues account and / or to defray some of the cost of overnight trips for regattas. Andy Lawn (a parent of one of our women rowers) is the coordinator for the program and can be reached by phone at 407-810-2949 or by using the handy request form below. April 19th, 2009 (Oak Ridge, TN): In a thrilling finish, the Florida Tech Mens Varsity 8 with Winter Park Alumni Taylor Brown, Jeff Venturoni and Pablo Menendez-Aponte took Gold at the SIRA Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

April 11th, 2009 (Sarasota): Winter Park Mens Alumni Jeff Venturoni, Pablo Menednez, and Taylor Brown rowing for Florida Tech won the "George B. Howell Memorial Trophy" by coming in 1st in the Men's Varsity 8 race on at FIRA held on Cooper Creek in Sarasota.

March 29th, 2009 (Winter Park): The Winter park Crew Mens team held a :earn to Row today at Fleet park on Lake Baldwin. With strong wind and whitecaps the amount of rowing wasn't as much planned, but all seemed to have a good time.

Novice Race Results
The first race of the 2009 season (The Novice Race) for Winter Park High School was held on February 14th. This year the race included teams from Edgewater, Boone, Oars, Lake Brantley, Power10, Miami Rowing Club, Sarasota Scullers, Belen, Space Coast and many others, competing at Turkey Lake in Orlando. Crew Angel Dinner held Saturday 7th of February
It’s said that it takes a village to raise a child. The truth of that statement rang true at last night’s Crew Angels fundraising dinner. It took a village of volunteers – both current rower parents and even parents of alumni rowers -- to pull this big event off so that talented rowers who need some financial assistance don’t have to sit on the dock for lack of funds. 44th Head of the Charles: WP Mens V8 Takes 3rd
The Men's varsity 8 came in 3rd at the Head of the Charles this past weekend with a time of 15:44.110 behind Eton College and Everett Rowing Association. Results show below with some pictures from Melissa Bunkers. The crew of the V8 included: Alex Bunkers, Matt Maher, Nick Vinson, Logan Lynch, Boone Porcher, Otto Alvarez, Cameron Aidif, Sean Fleming and coxswain Chloe Cook.

Winter Park / Plant Dual
On Saturday, March 14th Winter park High School hosted Plan High School (Tampa) for a Dual at the Lake Howell boathouse. For the most part the races were close with several down to the wire. Men’s Spring Break 2009: Camp Ocala (Early Update)
April 2nd, 2009 (Winter Park) For the last 11 years the Winter Park High School Men's Crew has spent Spring Break at Camp Ocala; a 4H camp in the Ocala National Forest approximately and hour and half north west of Orlando. The accommodations are rustic, but clean, weatherproof and air-conditioned. With a cafeteria serving 3 meals a day what more could a rower ask for, water to row on. April 11th, 2009 (Sarasota): Winter Park Alumni Chelsea Curto, Sasha Baxter, Katie Breller and Jacqueline Horbert (coxwain) came in 2nd in the Women’s Lightweight 4 event at FIRA. The difference between NOVA Southeastern and Stetson was .3 seconds. and Sasha Baxter. Another fine showing by the WP Class of ’06 and ‘08 women.
